Amp from Guitar Center Store Concealed a Surprise
A Fender Champ 100 guitar combo amp filled with thousands of dollars worth of drug parcels was found in a branch of the Guitar Center music store chain in Georgia, USA. The amp with the contraband was originally shipped to an address outside the state of Georgia but apparently returned to the store by mistake. Employees opened the box and found cocaine and methamphetamine stuffed inside the amp.
Police believe the incident is part of a larger problem with drugs being sent through the U.S. mail, and investigators say drug dealers have tried this method before. "Often they try to make the box look as real as possible, and they'll label it with company logos with their return address," said the Gwinnett County Police Chief. Over the past year, a specialised unit of the Gwinnett Police Department has seized approximately $70 million worth of drugs being shipped through well-known companies FedEx and UPS.
