Actress Brie Larson and the First Relic Version of the Fender Acoustasonic
Today's popular relic design, a patinated finish on guitars, refers primarily to instruments dating back to the 1950s and 1960s or models that are at least partially inspired by these vintage editions. But of course, there are exceptions. One of them is the first official relic version of the modern Fender Acoustasonic Stratocaster hybrid, commissioned by Hollywood actress and singer Brie Larson.
The Golden Globe winner for Best Actress in the thriller Room (2019), and the starring actress playing Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) in Captain Marvel (2019), Avengers: Endgame (2019) and the upcoming The Marvels, didn't just request a classic patina finish that visually puts this Strat among instruments that have been sitting in an attic for half a century, but she also asked for a new pickguard.
The new pickguard is reminiscent of the design used on the acoustic Gibson Humminbird—but in a more luxurious vintage finish with the actress's initials. You can see the Acoustasonic Stratocaster in the first attached video and also see for yourselves the playing and singing qualities of Brie Larson, who released her only solo album so far, Finally Out Of P.E., on the Casablanca label in 2005 (see the second video).
