Standard Series 2025: the Most Affordable Fender Guitars and Basses
The position of the most affordable electric guitars with the classic Fender logo on the headstock has so far belonged to the Player edition, with an average price tag of just over 800 euros. The new Standard Series collection is now taking over the position, the production of which is handled by the brand's Indonesian subsidiary, whereby Fender has managed to reduce the resulting price even further while maintaining the company's quality standards. So, not only beginners or less-wealthy players can start choosing from the Fender Standard Stratocaster, Telecaster, Stratocaster HSS and four-string Standard Precision or Jazz Bass models.
Common denominators throughout the series are poplar bodies, one-piece maple necks with a comfortable Modern C profile and satin urethane lacquer, Indian Laurel or maple fretboards with a 9.5-inch radius, fitted with 21 medium jumbo frets and a micarta nut. The guitar's length scale is classical 25.5-inch, while the basses have a standard 34-inch scale.
The Telecaster is equipped with a pair of Standard SC Tele ceramic singles, the Stratocaster uses three Standard SC Strat single-coil pickups, the HSS variant features a bridge humbucker, the Precision offers a traditional Standard Split SC P half-coil pickup, and the Jazz Bass features a pair of matching single coils. The control method and electronics wiring are the same as those of the American originals.
The hardware has a polished or satin chrome finish, depending on the model, Standard tuning machines were used and both Strats have more modern two-way tremolos with block saddles for individual strings. The bodies are sprayed with a durable polyurethane lacquer in a gloss finish.
