ESP Eclipse Nosferatu: Another Pyrograph Limited Edition

ESP has expanded the range of limited edition guitars from the Pyrograph series with the Eclipse Nosferatu, produced by the brand's Californian Custom Shop in collaboration with graphic designer and painter Dumitru "Dino" Muradian. He applied themes from the famous 1922 German silent film Nosferatu, based on the novel Dracula by Irish writer Bram Stoker, to the guitar using an innovative hand-burning technique known as pyrography.

The 60mm thick body is made up of chambered select mahogany and maple top; the neck, equipped with graphite bracing and a subtle Thin-U profile, is glued from three pieces of mahogany; the 12-inch radius ebony fretboard features 22 JESCAR FW57110 XJ stainless steel jumbo frets and a 42mm wide bone nut. The scale length is 24.75 inches.

On the maple-plated headstock, in addition to the Sperzel Trim-Lok locking tuners, we find a raven figure, again created using the pyrography technique, and the strings are anchored in a T1Z Stopbar tailpiece, complemented by a TonePros T3BT LT locking bridge. All hardware, the enclosed Dunlop strap locks included, are made in a black finish.

The electronics consist of a pair of modern Seymour Duncan Black Winter humbuckers with a powerful output, hand-wound in the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop by the legendary Maricela "MJ" Juarez. The pickups are controlled by a three-position lever switch, separate volume controls, a common tone shield, and push/pull coil uncoupling for both humbuckers.

The limited-edition ESP Eclipse Nosferatu with a Satin Natural finish and graphics by Dino Muradian—who has decorated specials for James Hetfield and George Lynch, among others—is being released in just 15 pieces. The price of this collector's instrument is around 18,000 dollars. Included in the delivery is of course a quality hard case, certification, service keys and other accessories.
