Squier opens the e-guitar lineup with a limited-edition Classic Vibe, Vola Guitars introduces a model for the band's Pro-Pain guitarist, boutique Heritage has prepared a deluxe single-cut H-157, and Gibson has launched a replica of Jason Isbell's 1959 Les Paul "Red Eye" and started offering signature strings and a strap by Megadeth's Dave Mustaine. Blackstar bolstered its lineup with a design variant of The Dead Daisies' Fly 3 BT combo, Agile Behringer included the 1273 mic preamp in its catalogue, and Crazy Tube Circuit boasts the Unobtanium drive in an upgraded Raw version. We also recommend drum sampler Bullfrog Drums from Eric Synths and high-quality DR Dragon Skin+ strings for guitars, basses and mandolins. Welcome to our regular review of new gear and interesting facts from the world of music.

Collection Squier Limited Edition Classic Vibe

A special series reflecting Fender guitar designs from the '60s and '70s features the Squier Limited Edition Classic Vibe '60s Stratocaster HSS, LE CV '60s Custom Telecaster, LE CV '60s Telecaster SH, CV '70s Jaguar, LE CV Bass VI hybrid and LE CV Mid-'60s Jazz Bass. Common elements include one-piece maple necks fitted with C-profile, poplar bodies, 9.5-inch radius Laurel or maple fingerboards, bone nut, period hardware, pickups Fender-Designed with Alnico magnets, and gloss polyurethane lacquer.

La Vola OZ 24 AP Supernova: signature by Pro-Pain guitarist

Designed by Japanese brand Vola Guitars for Adam Phillips from hardcore Pro-Pain, the Superstrat features an alder body covered in White Gloss lacquer with black binding, a bolt-on roasted maple neck with Modern-C profile, an ebony fingerboard with 24 medium jumbo stainless steel frets, and a pair of Vola VHC/Fire Ice humbuckers with coil-splitting capabilities. It features a killswitch, Gotoh locking tuners set into a reverse headstock and an Evertune F bridge whose patented technology provides constant tuning and intonation stability. The official price has been set at just under 1550 dollars including a high-quality gig bag.

Gibson Jason Isbell „Red Eye“ 1959 Les Paul Standard

The original "Red Eye" is a 1959 Les Paul Standard used for many years by Lynyrd Skynyrd band member Ed King, who purchased this piece in 1982. After Ed passed away in 2018, guitarist and six-time Grammy Award-winning Jason Isbell became the new owner of the "Red Eye". The Gibson Custom Shop has now included a replica of this iconic LP in its catalogue, including relic modifications by the Murphy Lab division, who also worked hard on the authenticity of the tone – in fact, the red burst component on the top of the body faded when the guitar was displayed in the shop window, except for a spot under the toggle switch that was covered by a tag. Ed King nicknamed the Les Paul "Red Eye" for its unusual appearance. Price: about 22,000 dollars.

Heritage H-157 Custom Shop Core Collection

Luxury single-cut models from the renowned American brand are offered in a transparent Dark Cherry Sunburst finish or the traditional Ebony black lacquer. The body made of select, very lightweight mahogany, is complemented by a mahogany (Ebony) or maple (Sunburst) top, the glued mahogany neck equipped with a 50s C profile is combined with an ebony fingerboard fitted with 22 medium Jescar jumbo frets, the strings are anchored in an aluminium stop bar and they head into reliable company tuners through the tune-o-matic bridge. The two H225 Hot Classic humbuckers are hand-wound to provide a more powerful output while maintaining dynamics and sensitivity. Other premium components include CTS potentiometers (500 kOhm), Orange Drop capacitors (.022 uF), and a Switchcraft three-way switch. Both instruments also boast multi-layered binding and inlays. The quality of the H-157 is matched by the price of approximately 4500 dollars.

Signature strings and Gibson Dave Mustaine strap

The Gibson Lifestyle & Accessory section now features a guitar strap and string set signed by thrash metal Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, who some time ago became a factory player for the Nashville-based brand, which built several types of Flying Gibson and Kramer for him. The exclusive genuine leather guitar strap in black with Mustaine's "Silhouette" logo is 3 inches wide, with adjustable lengths ranging from 44 to 65 inches. Developed specifically for the "heavy sound," the set of signature strings (approx.15 dollars) with gauges of .010, .013, .017, .030, .042, .052 is made of nickel-plated steel with a reinforced carbon core providing improved stability, sustain and durability. The strings have alternating black and green end ball ends for easy identification.

Blackstar Fly 3 BT The Dead Daisies minicombo

Doug Aldrich is a Blackstar factory player and guitarist of the Australian-American hard rock band The Dead Daisies, whose name is imprinted in the label of the next design line of the FLY 3 mini combo, this time in red combined with a black protective net decorated with the band's emblem. The compact model, designed mainly for practice, has a three-inch speaker, a two-channel preamp and potentiometers with skull-shaped caps which control the gain, volume, EQ, ISF function and delay time, whose mix can be adjusted by a second, smaller potentiometer. A trio of buttons are used to turn the machine on, select the channel and activate the Bluetooth module. There is an Aux In jack and an emulated headphone output. The 3W FLY-3 TDD is powered by a 6.5V adapter or AAA batteries, and you can connect an external cabinet.

CTC Unobtanium Raw: Clone/Dumble style drive

A year and a half after the premiere of the Unobtanium drive, Crazy Tube Circuit has decided to offer guitarists a modified version called Raw, which again features a dual concept with sounds inspired by Bill Finnegan's iconic Klon Centaur pedal and the distortion channel of Howard Dumble's equally iconic Overdrive Special amp. The K (Klon) section of the Raw variant is distinguished by an OC45 circuit fitted with a set of hand-selected 1960s Mullard/Valvo germanium NOS transistors for organic compression and increased gain and sustain. The result of the D (Dumble) channel modification is a glassier tone with more projection. The price of the limited edition effect is around 340 euros.

DR Dragon Skin+:strings for bass, guitar and mandolin

DR Handmade Strings, Inc. has introduced a new line of premium Dragon Skin+ strings for acoustic and electric guitars, four-, five- and six-string basses, and mandolin, which have already caught the eye of blues guitarist J.J. Nichols and Dirty Loops bassist Henrik Linder. Dragon Skin+ uses patented ACT (Accurate Core Technology) with fine grooves in the core to help maintain the strength and consistency of the special K3-coated windings for longer life and greater string durability. The chosen construction allows the string to vibrate fully, with more projection and better tuning stability.

Drum sampler Erica Synths Bullfrog Drums

Erica Synths expands its Bullfrog ecosystem with another essential component for electronic music production – the Bullfrog Drums. Combined with the Bullfrog or Bullfrog XL, this provides a complete and self-contained modern electronic music production kit. The main goal of Bullfrog Drums is to teach drum programming and the basics of sampling. The user interface, inspired by classic drum machines, contains everything you need to build advanced drum patterns using sampled drum sounds. The synth features seven voices, each with handy controls including tuning, start point, sample length, attack, decay, overdrive and stereo panning. The pairing with other Bullfrog edition representatives is handled by a programmable CV/Gate sequence. Price and availability have not yet been determined.

Dual microphone preamp Behringer 1273: not just a copy of a legend

The name of this rack-mount studio preamplifier already announces that this time Behringer took inspiration from the iconic Neve 1073. However, the manufacturer decided to offer potential users of its 1273 version two preamp units with independent signal paths, separate gains with levels up to 80 dB, three-band EQ with selectable working bands for bass, midrange and treble, hi-pass filters and, last but not least, switches adjusting the impedance of the Midas transformer and optimising sensitivity for dynamic or ribbon microphones. In addition, the EQ section can be bypassed with the EQ button, and the installed inserts allow you to include additional effects. Price: approx. 630 euros, exact distribution start date not yet given.
