PRS Swamp Ash Special 2025: Models with Flexible Electronics
The PRS Swamp Ash Special and Swamp Ash Special Maple 2025 guitars bring a unique look and superior sonic flexibility to the Bolt-On series, featuring new types of humbuckers and extended controls that offer up to twelve different pickup configurations. The updated design allows these models to cover an unprecedentedly wide range of tones, suitable for many different genres.
The mud ash body is equipped with a pair of upgraded 58/15 LT humbuckers complemented by a PRS Narrowfield pickup with single-coil character but without the typical hum. Coupled with a volume and tone potentiometer, a five-way blade switch, and two mini-toggle coil-tap switches (a first for this edition), the Swamp Special can deliver both a massive midrange ideal for distortion and crystal-clear Strat- or Telecaster-based registers, plus a host of less traditional, inspiring sounds you won't find on conventionally designed instruments.
The maple neck with Pattern Regular profile is complemented by a 10-inch radius rosewood or maple fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets, classic "bird" inlays and a 42.8 mm wide nut. The strings are anchored in a reliable patented PRS Gen III tremolo with a nickel finish, and tuning is provided by the company's locking tuners Phase III with unplated brass shafts and proprietary plastic tuning keys.
The new generation of Swamp Ash Special 2025 guitars will be available in the impressive transparent finishes Jasper Smokeburst, Black Doghair, Scarlet Smokeburst, White Doghair or the classic McCarty Tobacco Sunburst and Vintage Natural.
The final finish of the 25-inch scale instruments is a high-gloss nitro lacquer for the bodies and the same satin finish for the necks. The new models are supplied with a premium gig bag.
