Reissue of Cobain’s Fender Jag-Stang
After many years, Fender dusted off the popular signature model of Kurt Cobain's guitar and unveiled a Mexican reissue version of the Jag-Stang—simultaneously marking the 30th anniversary of the release of Nirvana's seminal album Nevermind. The new edition builds on Cobain's original 1993 signature model, combining design elements of the older Jaguar and Mustang Fenders.
A maple neck with a more subtle Slim-C profile is bolted to an alder body covered in gloss polyurethane lacquer, and a rosewood fingerboard with a rounder vintage radius of 7.25 inches carries 22 medium frets and a 40mm wide synthetic bone nut. The shorter scale length has been measured at 24 inches (610 mm).
The sound is carried by a single-coil Jag-Stang neck and a custom bridge humbucker of the same name. Both angled pickups are mounted in a four-layer pearl pickguard, with controls consisting of volume and tone potentiometers with Jazz Bass-style caps and a pair of three-position slide switches for selecting pickups or out-of-phase mod.
The vibrato was taken from Mustang guitars, with a solid base held in place by six screws, a fixed bridge and a movable tailpiece. The headstock features classic company tuning machines with small oval tuning keys, an EH string tree and the neck brace screw recessed into its footplate. The metal parts have a nickel-chrome finish.
The reissue of the signature Fender Jag-Stang MIM comes in the colors Fiesta Red or Sonic Blue. The official European price has been set at approx. €1,329.00 and include a quality soft padded case, service keys etc. Left-handed versions are also available.
