Three New Taylor American Dream Sunburst Electroacoustics

Taylor has announced the addition of three new acoustic guitars to its American Dream series. The AD11e-SB, AD12e-SB and AD17e-SB models, being the more affordable ones in the brand's portfolio produced in its American headquarters, have been given an elegant, timeless finish in a transparent Tobacco Sunburst matte lacquer and a quality sound system, and they include the Grand Theater, Grand Concert and Grand Pacific design concepts.

Featuring a scaled-down Grand Theater-style body with C-Class ribbing, the AD11e-SB model has a walnut back and sides, Sitka spruce top soundboard, mahogany neck, eucalyptus fretboard carrying twenty frets, Italian acrylic inlays combined with faux mother-of-pearl, and a Black Tusq compound zero fret. Tuning is provided by reliable company pegs with black rondelles; strings are anchored in the bridge by pegs, and resonance is supported by a Micarta saddle. The control of the pickup system comprising a trio of pots is, as with the other two versions, placed into the upper side of the body.

The same materials were also used to build the AD12e-SB variant, which also offers a body in a compact Grand Concert format with internal V-Class bracing, having a positive impact on tone volume, warmth, sustain length and bass response. These characteristics also improve over time, which will be appreciated not only by players with right-hand finger technique.

In a similar spirit, the AD17e-SB version (related to the AD17-e Blacktop model) is designed. It differs from the previous two instruments in having a Grand Pacific-shaped body with V-Class ribbing and a 25.5-inch scale length (the AD11e-SB and AD12e-SB are shorter, with 24-1/8 and 24-7/8 inches, respectively), which, along with the more massive body volume, affects the brilliance, clarity and projection of the resulting tone.

All instruments are sounded by Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics, featuring a patented pickup system consisting of a trio of individually calibrated sensors located behind the bridge saddle. The chosen solution delivers a greater dynamic range and more accurate rendering of sonic nuances compared to conventional systems. Together with a custom-designed preamplifier, the ES2 produces a musical tone, and the guitar can be plugged directly into a mixing desk, acoustic amplifier, active PA box or sound card.

Official prices for Taylor's new American Sunburst collection are as follows: AD11e-SB is about 1800 dollars, AD12e-SB and AD17e-SB come to 2000 dollars. Included in the package are a premium AeroCase hybrid case, service key and other accessories.
