Ultimate Shredding: The Jackson Soloist SL2 DX and DX HT American Series Superstrats
The American edition of Jackson's premium Soloist series guitars offers time-tested quality, assertive sound, comfortable necks for fast playing and an exemplary level of craftsmanship. These qualities are also reflected in the two newest additions to this collection, the Soloist SL2 DX and DX HT American Series superstrats, handcrafted by the experienced guitar builders of the Custom Shop in Corona, California. The instruments have an identical core design, with differences mainly in hardware.
Both neck-through versions feature necks glued from three pieces of maple and reinforced with graphite bracing, attached to the alder body. The necks with a Speed Neck profile and an ergonomically shaped joint allowing smooth access to the highest positions are complemented by ebony fingerboards with a variable radius of 12-16 inches, fitted with 24 jumbo stainless steel frets, the brand's signature shark fin inlays and luminescent dots embedded in the upper fingerboard edge.
The electronics consist of the notorious and still very popular Seymour Duncan JB passive bridge humbucker in the TB-4 version with wider pole spacing and the Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1N neck model, which perfectly complements the TB-4 type. The pickups are controlled by a shared volume, tone and five-position footswitch with the following configurations: pol. 1 - TB-4, pol. 2 - TB-4 outer coil + SH-1N inner coil in parallel, pol. 3 - both HBs in parallel, pol. 4 - TB-4 inner coil + SH-1N outer coil in parallel, pol. 5 - SH-1N.
The Soloist SL2 DX AS received a Floyd Rose 1500 double-locking tremolo and 42.8mm-wide string locks at the zero fret, while the HT variant has a premium Hipshot 6 - Fixed .175 hardtail bridge with strings anchored through the body and a Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut. Tuning is handled by reliable Gotoh MG-T locking tuners and the hardware has a black finish.
The official price of the Jackson Soloist SL2 DX AS in Satin Black, Lemon Ice and Snow White is around 2600 euros, the Soloist SL2 DX HT AS variant with a fixed bridge costs around 2500 euros and you can choose from Satin Porsche Gray or Satin Black matt finishes. It comes with a hard case, service keys, etc.
