Active PA Loudspeakers ANNY 8 and ANNY 10 by LD Systems: All-in-One and High-Quality
The German manufacturer LD Systems has expanded its range of active systems with the new ANNY 8 model, following in the footsteps of the successful ANNY 10 series. The compact speakers, providing sound for recordings, vocals, instruments or spoken word, can deliver good sound almost anywhere – at home, in the park, on the street, in clubs, conference halls, etc. In addition, the ANNY 8 with its sober, timeless design in white, green, black or grey finish can be positioned in various ways, and both models feature wireless communication, practical functions, built-in wheels and a telescopic handle for comfortable transport.
LD Systems ANNY 8
ANNY 8, the smallest member of this series, is the optimal all-in-one solution for anyone who wants to make music with friends or listen to music with superior-quality sound. The dual-band full-range PA system, equipped with an eight-inch ferrite magnet woofer and a one-inch tweeter, combines a robust, compact housing made of durable ABS with sound and features unrivalled in its class, despite its small dimensions of 390 x 249 x 282 mm and weight of 8.8 kg.
The 160 W Class-D power amplifier (80 W RMS), maximum SPL 117 dB, bassreflex and dispersion of 120° x 60° are sufficient to cover most smaller events, and the frequency range of 53 Hz to 20 kHz can play recordings of any musical genre with clarity. Transparent sound even at maximum volume is also aided by the latest generation DynX DSP unit, which delivers the required dynamic response and undistorted signal.
The five-channel mixer with a display features not only two combined XLR/jack inputs for microphones and line instruments and a wireless microphone but also stereo inputs (mini-jack or RCA), XLR Mix Out, a USB-C port, a Bluetooth 5.0 for more flexibility and a True Wireless Stereo (TWS) function to provide true stereo streaming when using a pair of speakers.
Along with the five presets MUSIC, LIVE, VOCAL, ECO and FLAT, the system features reverb and delay controlled by a footswitch. The resulting sound can be shaped by the three-band equaliser, and a Priority/ducking mode can automatically mute the music and highlight the microphone channel when a microphone is detected.
The loudspeaker is powered from the mains or via a Li-Ion battery (14.8V / 5Ah) connected to an LED indicator informing about its status. The battery can be charged from the minimum capacity to full mode in about 5 hours (80% in about 3 hours) and it lasts about 11 hours of continuous operation at half power (ECO mode), in case of using the maximum volume the battery lasts about 3.5 hours. The company also offers a spare battery that can be replaced in seconds.
LD Systems ANNY 10
The ANNY 10, first introduced in May this year, is the bigger brother of the "eight" with dimensions of 361 x 300 x 566 mm and a weight of 18 kg. It shares the same concept, power and DSP processor type with the ANNY 8, but offers dispersion of 90° x 50°, 1 dB higher max SPL (118 dB) and a 10-inch woofer, which together with the cabinet volume provides a wider frequency response of 45 Hz to 20 kHz.
The mixer has six channels, and above the mixing panel, we find two slots for wireless microphone receivers. You can charge your mobile phone with two gel batteries (2x 12V/5Ah) with a seven-hour recharge (80% in about 3 hours), "ECO" lasts 25 hours or five hours at full volume. As already mentioned, this variant comes exclusively in a black finish.
Both systems received the bass reflex system to enhance the lowest bands, a recessed shaft on the bottom for mounting the speaker on a stand, a smartphone or tablet holder and an optional waterproof nylon case with roll-up front and back and side pockets for accessories.
LD Systems ANNY 8 and ANNY 10 active loudspeakers can also be purchased as sets with different types of microphones, whose storage space is located under the hinged top panel of the chassis. The ANNY 8 version alone (without a microphone) in white costs about 554 euros and the ANNY 10 model starts at around 625 euros.
