Ibanez AZ22S1F and AZ24S1F: New AZ Standard Series Guitars
Ibanez has introduced a new, more affordable line of AZ Standard guitars made in China, priced between the AZ Essentials economy edition and the Premium collection. The AZ Standard AZ22S1F and AZ24S1F models are fitted with high-quality components from the higher series, and thanks to Chinese production, they have been priced more competitively than instruments built in Indonesia.
The Ibanez AZ22S1F, clearly inspired by the Stratocaster, has an alder body base and a flame maple veneer top in shades of Transparent Turquoise Burst or Transparent Black Sunburst. A heat-treated maple neck with an AZ Oval C profile is bolted to the body via an ergonomic SAANJ (Super All Access Neck Joint).
For the 12-inch radius fretboard, offering 22 jumbo stainless steel frets, durable jatoba wood was used, the chrome hardware consists of locking tuning machines and a classic T106 tremolo anchored by six screws, and the length scale was measured at the standard 25.5 inches.
The sound is carried by three Ibanez Classic Custom passive pickups in an HSS configuration, with the bridge humbucker using ceramic magnets. At the same time, the two single coils have Alnico magnets for a warmer vintage tone. In addition to a common volume, tone pot and five-position footswitch, a dyna-MIX9 system is installed with a lever switch expanding the pickup configurations to nine variations.
The Ibanez AZ24S1F version differs from the previous model mainly by its two-octave fretboard, absence of a pickguard, pair of passive Ibanez Modern Custom Alnico humbuckers embedded directly into the body, and electronics dyna-MIX10 with ten configurations. In addition to the Transparent Turquoise Burst and Transparent Black Sunburst finishes, the AZ24S1F is also available in a timeless Violin Sunburst finish.
