Guitar master Alex Skolnick, known not only as a member of Testament but also as an innovator blending jazz, rock, and metal, performed with his trio at Prague’s JazzDock at the end of March. We are bringing you an exclusive rig rundown where Alex shares the details of his gear.
It was a pleasant albeit rainy March afternoon when our Insounder team entered the Jazz Dock club. The mission was clear: to show you the rig of guitar hero Alex Skolnick.
This time, Alex visited Prague with his project Alex Skolnick Trio, which may be a genre miles away from the guitarist's thrash metal home band Testament, yet both groups are somehow connected by the musician's virtuosity and passion for the instrument. This passion was also what shone through our entire conversation, as Alex enthusiastically described the equipment he uses on the Trio tour. He spoke about how he had come along to which gear, and why he had decided to use this or that piece of it in his concert sound.
